Song guessing game for parties
Needle Drop is a multiplayer song guessing game built around a music timeline. A track starts playing, and the player whose turn it is has to work out roughly when it came out — then slot the card into their own timeline, before or after the songs they already placed correctly. Switch to Buzzer mode and the same songs turn into a race with a pot you can win or lose on every single answer.
How a turn works
- 1. A mystery song plays. No title, no artist, no year.
- 2. The active player places the card into their timeline.
- 3. Correct? They can push their luck and take another song, or stop and bank everything they have won this round.
- 4. Wrong? Everything won during that round is lost and the turn passes to the next player.
Buzzer mode: the push-your-luck music quiz
This is where Needle Drop stops being a timeline game. Everyone holds a big BUZZ button, the first press stops the music dead, and that player climbs a ladder of questions with a pot riding on every one of them.
- Name the artist for 1 point — 15 seconds on the clock.
- Bank the point and walk away, or push your luck for the song title (+1).
- Still in? Push again for the release year: exact +2, one year off +1.
- Miss at any step and the whole pot is gone — and everyone else gets to steal what is still unsolved.
Three difficulty modes
- Year only — place the song on the timeline and that is it.
- Year + artist — name the artist too. Spelling mistakes are forgiven.
- Year + artist + title — get all three right to keep the card.
Multiplayer, no app to install
One person hosts the room and shares a game link. Everyone else joins from their own phone browser and sees the other players' timelines update live. Music streams from the host's own Spotify account, and the free version ships with a fixed set of songs so you can try a full game before buying access to the whole game.
